Against the Chiefs on Sunday, he recorded six total tackles (four solo, two assists), three tackles for loss, one pass defensed and his first career interception. The Dolphins second-round pick has emerged as an unexpected contender for the award. If Rodriguez wins, he would become the second consecutive DROY selected outside the first round and just the fifth since 2000. Sonny Styles Rises: Three Ohio State Buckeyes were selected in the first seven picks, including linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 7. Styles made his presence felt right away, recording four tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hit in his NFL debut against the Eagles. But the highlight came when he bulldozed Saquon Barkley on his way to his first career sack. Then, in Week 3, Styles dominated in the Commanders win over the defending Super Bowl champs, adding five more tackles, two passes defended, one QB hit, one fumble forced and his first career interception. As a result, his odds jumped from +800 to +600, which is tied for second on the oddsboard after Week 3. David Bailey Drops: Bailey was a unanimous All-American last season for Texas Tech, recording a Division I-best 14.5 sacks and a Big 12-best 19.5 tackles for loss. FOX Sports NFL analyst Rob Rang praised the Jets’ selection: “Finishing dead last in the AFC in sacks, the Jets made the right choice to add this year’s top pass-rusher. Bailey’s burst and bend off the edge is elite.
