Australia took on Cuba in the 2023 World Baseball Classic Quarterfinals. Australia hopped on the board first after an RBI single by Rixon Wingrove. Cuba would answer back when Luis Robert Jr. drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. Cuba would have a huge fifth inning, scoring three runs via a sacrifice fly and a two-run single. Wingrove wasn’t done there as he launched a two-run home run in the sixth. Cuba’s relief pitching proved to be too much and they held on for a 4-3 win and advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2006. Click Here for more
