Israel and Puerto Rico faced off in Pool D for the World Baseball Classic in Miami. Puerto Rico started off the game hot with a 2 RBI double from Javier Báez. Eddie Rosario added an RBI double for a 3-run inning. Puerto Rico would plate three more runs in the second inning off of a Kiki Hernandez double and an Emmanuel Rivera triple. In the fifth inning Francisco Lindor smashed a bases-clearing triple for a 9-0 lead. Puerto Rico ace José De León was perfect through 5.2 innings with 10 strikeouts before reaching the 65-pitch limit. They went on to beat Israel 10-0 in eight innings.
